As he set his sights on the community he realized that there were changes that needed to take place. He has been inspired to take leadership role in the community. Some of his community affiliations include: Founder and President of the Genesis Project; this was the first faith-based Community Development Corporation in Western Massachusetts (a nonprofit community outreach program to help the community with the development of affordable housing, job creation and community improvements), Hope VI; through Hope VI a total of $15 million was allotted to be used to revitalize the community (a Program funded by the federal government and administered by the City of Holyoke), Churchill Neighborhood Partnership Association, Armory Advisory Committee, Holyoke Ministerial Association, Valley Opportunity Council, Holyoke Community Partnership and Council of Human Understanding and Community Help Foundation for Western Mass.
Charles Pink became a familiar figure with local as well as state government officials because of his involvement in the community. He was featured on several occasions in the local newspaper for his commitment to making a difference in the community; this was accomplished in part by participating in food/share programs and substance abuse prevention programs in a community known for one of the toughest drug-infested neighborhoods in the City.
The Mayor of Holyoke, Mayor Daniel Szostkiewicz, proclaimed March 24, 1996 as “Rev. Charles W. Pink Day” because of his efforts in the community. Bishop Pink also received recognition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, House of Representatives and Governor Paul Cellucci for his involvement in the City of Holyoke.
In August of 2002 Bishop Pink embarked upon a new beginning when he founded and organized New Creation Discipleship Ministries with the vision that God gave him based on the Scripture Proverb 29:18a which states “where there is no vision the people perish.”
The vision is to build a Ministry founded on Biblical principles for the common good of humanity; dedicated not only to serving the spiritual needs of the community but to serving the whole person: his or her spiritual and moral needs (the Church) mental and academic (Math Academy at New Creation) and natural and physical needs (Family Life Center).
In continuing the vision to serve the community he used his leadership abilities to organize, plan, evaluate, motivate and implement the opening of New Creation Child Care Center on March 19, 2007.
His community involvement includes: Clerk of Board of Directors HAP, Inc. /Hampden Hampshire Housing Partnership, United Way of Pioneer Valley, New Creation Foundation, and Massachusetts Association of Community Partnership Council (MACPC).
Charles Pink and his wife, Minister Dorothy Pink, are the proud parents of four children: Minister Monica, Hollie, Christopher and Jochebed.
Work in harmony with parents to help them understand their child's intellectual, emotional, moral, ethic, social and physical development, and to provide supportive services if needed.
Our purpose is to provide children with a safe and loving environment, and to capture the essence of the home setting.
Guided by the belief that every life has an intrinsic worth, New Creation Foundation works arduously towards helping people discover a more productive and healthier life, by offering solutions that allow the individual to lift themselves out of their own condition, ultimately, helping them to become productive members of their community, so that they might one day give back to the respective communities to which they belong. We do not believe that lack of resources should act as an impediment to the many individuals failing within our communities; therefore, we seek not to enhance lifestyle, but to drastically change lives through fair and sensible approaches to remedying the situations many face in our society. But more importantly, we endeavor to instill within those we assist, a better sense of ownership in their own future, yet while also helping them to understand better, the importance of education; maintaining relative skill sets; being better parents and also more responsible adults. This is why your donations are so vitally important, so that we can continue our efforts of providing lasting change to community members everywhere. We appreciate our partners, because it is with your efforts that makes all of what we do possible.
Based in Springfield, MA, the foundation is led by President Charles W. Pink II, under the direction of Executive Director Dorothy Pink.
Human Rights Activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Pearl S. Buck once said: “The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. Their heart withers if it does not answer another heart. Their mind shrinks away if they hear only the echoes of their own thoughts and finds no other inspiration.”
We couldn’t agree more, which is why New Creation Foundation is constantly collaborating with community partners in our city to take on some really tough challenges: social and economic disparities; social dependency; Generational degeneration/disenfranchisement, as well as the failures of America’s education system, all of what serves to dispirit our community, allowing many to feel both helpless and alone.
We focus on these issues in particular because we believe them to be the biggest barriers that prevent people from making the most of their potential in life. What’s more, without the abatement of these social disparities, we lose a real sense of exactly what is at the heart of community – its members, and their ability to become like minded problem solvers who can proactively assist in what serves to better themselves, and ultimately, their neighbor.
What we essentially seek to do is fully commit ourselves to promising solutions that provide real and lasting change, at the same time, learning which efforts will give us the best return for our effort, therefore, we are not opposed to adjusting our strategies to ensure maximum outcome.
We’re optimists at New Creation Foundation, because we believe that the best investment one can make in a community is in its people — focusing on our vision with our partners on innovative solutions that avoid rote and simplistic remedies, our essential aim is to help every person get the chance to live a more fair and productive life.
